John passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Veldhoven, Netherlands, he was the 2nd youngest of 10 children born to Jan Van Gerwen and Marie Donkers. John had migrated to the USA (Murray, Utah) with his wife and soulmate Maria.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He left behind his wife of 52 years Maria Van Gerwen, 1 son Joey Van Gerwen, and 2 grandchildren, Jace & Jack whom all were the love of his life, along with many lifelong friends.
He began A-1 Kitchens in 1983 and retired in 2003 touching the hearts of many employees and customers who later became lasting friends.
Family has requested that any donations made are to be sent to the Huntsman Cancer Center.
Funeral services held in his honor will be Saturday May 30, 2015 at Mountain View Memorial, located at 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.) Cottonwood Heights, Utah with a gathering at 11:00 a.m. and services to follow at 12:00 p.m.
