John Douglas Turner, passed away on April 27, 2014, incident to age. He was born on September 13, 1921, in Clear Creek, Utah, to Alfred Turner and Mary Jane Wilde. He was one of 12 children. He married Betty Jane Clawson on June 26, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. She currently resides in Garden Terrace Memory Care.
He was an international organizer for the Sheet Metal Union and served as the president of the local union. He loved to spend time fishing at Deer Creek Reservoir, spending time in the outdoors at his cabin in Vivian Park.
He is survived by his wife Betty; his daughters, Kathy (Howard) Baysinger, Shawna (Gary) Smith; his 6 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and his sister Kay Rosebury. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, 11 am at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S., Murray. A viewing will be held prior to services at 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E., Murray. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.murraymemorial.com.
