John Terry Douglas, Sr.

August 6, 1934 — November 22, 2019

Our dear husband, dad and grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s. He was born August 6, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the army in 1953 during the Korean War. He served in Germany where he met and married my mother, Rosa Maria. They were together for 66 years. We’re happy that my Dad and Mom will be together once again. He missed her tremendously. He had opportunities to stay in the army, but he insisted on coming back so he could get a degree. He attended the U of U and received his degree in Geology. John ran his own business, Douglas Scale and Equipment, for many years and later went to work for Ford, Bacon and Davis until he retired.
Our father enjoyed his family. He spent much of his time with his grandkids, teaching them to ski and golf and taking all of us on many wonderful trips. We will miss him very much.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Horrocks; grandkids: Douglas (Jaclyn), Christopher (Kristen), Chelsea (Chris), Candice (Kory); and 8 great-grandkids. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Maria; parents, John and Dorothea; sister, Carol Jean; daughter, Rosemary; son, John; and grandson, JD.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Interment will follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
