John Scott Gracie of Salt Lake City, passed away on August 27th, 2016. He was born on August 15th, 1941 to John Gracie of Hawick, Scotland, and Gwendolyn Reid of Prospect, South Australia. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Oriskany (CVA-34) until 1967. He received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon with Bronze Star.
In 1985, John married Christine Miller, sharing 31 wonderful years together. John is survived by his wife, Christine Gracie; daughter Julie (Jack) White; brother, Richard (Deanne) Gracie; grandchildren, Shelby Chancey, Timothy and Rachel White; niece, Debbie Gracie; nephew, Rich (Jacqueline) Gracie; great niece, Katelynn Tanner; great nephews, Bick Tanner, Garrett and Drew Gracie.
With special thanks to the University of Utah Hospital nurses and staff for their utmost sincerity during the last two weeks of his life, The Utah Veteran’s, First Choice Hospice and all of our family and friends for their love and care through everything.
A small service will be held on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Camp Williams Cemetery. Friends and Family are welcome to gather at 10274 S. Templeview Circle (2430 West) South Jordan, UT following the service.
