John Leyba

John Raymond Leyba “Grandpa” was called home March 1, 2014 in Holladay, UT. He was born on June 2, 1950 in Murray, UT to Nicolas & Juanita Leyba. He married Irene Gonzales on November 1, 1977, later divorced. He worked as a civilian for Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 2006. He was a hard-working family man that was very generous. He loved to cook and spend time with his grandchildren. He also loved gardening, as well as fishing and camping. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by son Ryan (Marli) Leyba; daughter Darcy (Duston) Fox; grandchildren: Lynzie, Olivia, Nathan, Veronica, Jolie, & Sofia; sisters & brothers: Ruth Gonzales, Florence (Elisardo) Cruz, Frances (Bob) Noorda, Mary (Larry) Rogers, Nick (Cynthia) Leyba, and many nephews & nieces. He was preceded in death by Nicolas & Juanita Leyba, David Leyba, Gilbert Leyba, & Ida Gonzales. A viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 7-8 pm, followed by Rosary from 8-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 7 at 10:00 am at St Therese Catholic Church, 624 Lennox Street in Midvale, UT.
