John “Jack” Storey

July 17, 1936 — September 20, 2018

After being diagnosed with lung cancer three months ago, Jack’s health went downhill quickly and he left us on September 20, 2018, “To the other side where the better entertainers are”. He was born on July 17, 1936, in Utica, NewYork.  He served In the US Air Force after high school before moving to Utah to receive his Civil Engineering degree from University of Utah. Then went on to work for UDOT for 36 years and retired in 1998.
He was a stubborn but great man who was there to help his wife Vicki, through so many of her life issues and health problems.    He was so proud of his grandsons and always wanted to make sure to have what they would like – especially treats.  The cookie jar and candy dishes were kept full for him and visitors.
He loved walking along Jordan Parkway with our dog Duke.  They would take 2 to 3 mile walks at least five days a week until Duke died two years ago.  It was a big, hard loss to us all but Jack especially.  After that, he still walked the parkway but didn’t seem as enjoyable without his buddy.   He did a great job keeping his house repaired and his yard looking nice.   He was so proud of his perfect green lawn.
He is survived by his wife Vicki of 34 years, grandsons Jordan Storey, Landon Broderick, Talon Clark and Jude Clark, son-in-law Steve Clark also very good friends that he loved and have been there for over 50 years.  Thank you and you know who you are.   We will always remember what a good person he was.
I hope you have found peace my love and you are happy.  We are having a simple graveside service for friends and family September 24, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Mtn. View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South.  We know he didn’t like fanfare.   You are being remembered with love and stories.
