John Duane Perkins

April 12, 1937 — December 8, 2016

John Duane Perkins age 79, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2016 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born on April 12, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John S. and Thelma (Petersen) Perkins. He married Shirley Agnes Meisel on January 26, 1957.
John grew up in the Salt Lake valley and worked at Mark Steel for 35 years and had many accomplishments. He liked to weld and put photo albums together. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors with his family. He moved in with his son Dan and daughter-in-law Tam in Plain City, Utah and loved each of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his 6 children, Dale, Dan (Tam), Shirlene Tucker (Kevin Workman), David, Sandra, and Susan (Mike) Bullock; 12 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his little buddy Gizmo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Thelma Perkins; his sister, Winona Magee; and his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at 11:00am at the LDS church at 8060 South 615 East. A viewing will be held prior from 9:30 to 10:30am. Friends may visit with family on Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Memorial Murray Mortuary at 5850 South 900 East Murray, Utah. Interment will be held at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery at 3115 East 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
