1926-2013: John William Cumberledge, age 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 25, 2013. John was born March 1, 1926 to Forrest and Frances Cumberledge in Holladay, Utah. Graduated from Granite High. Joined the US Marine Corp. June 21, 1944. He was with the 6th Marine Division serving as Private First Class, Rifleman, Explosive Specialist and Medic. Hereceived an honorable dischargeDecember 8, 1945. He is a veteran of World War II. We've lost a hero who is now guarding the streets of Heaven.Dad told many stories about his love for militarydogs andthe work they did together.
Married Lois Benzon Aug 24, 1947 and together they had 5 children. Owned Jack’s Body Shop, retiring in 2004. Dad’s greatest accomplishment in life was the gift of love and laughter, remaining in the hearts of every life he touched.
Survived by his wife Lois, children:Terry, Barbara (Paul) Blanchette, Katherine, Franni,daughter-in-law Dana& brother James A. Cumberledge; 13 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son John and brother Robert.
Viewing: Fri. Nov. 29th, from 6-8pm at Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive. Funeral Mass Sat. November 30th, 12 pm at St. Vincent’s Church, with viewing 1 hour prior.
