John Carl Furness

John C. Furness, age 69, passed away on March 8, 2020 at his home in Lehi, Utah. John was born on January 16, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John and Emma Furness.
He graduated from South High School, joined the Army and served in Vietnam from 1969 – 1971. In 1971, he married his sweetheart, Mary Fausett, and they had 4 children. John worked for and retired from Mountain Fuel/Questar Gas. He served in many Church callings throughout his life where he was able to influence others for good. He was a loving husband, father, friend, and mentor. Later, he and Mary completed a Church-service mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. John enjoyed playing the guitar, singing Beatle’s songs and spending time with his family and friends, especially at the cabin. He has struggled with Multiple Sclerosis for 15 years, Parkinson’s and other ailments without complaint and always remained cheerful. He will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie, and his father, John T. Survived by his wife, Mary; sons Chad (May), Rob (Tracy), and Mike (Desi); his mother, Emma; his siblings, Barry (Linda), Gloria (Jeff), Bev (Rod), Doug (Jill), and Annette (Kelly); and 6 grandchildren, Maddie (Devin), Christian, Megan, Camille, Emily, and Livi.
We wish to give thanks and appreciation to the Active Hospice group and especially to those who lovingly cared for John – Sergio, Shae, Kaitlyn, Destiny, Sarah, Janet, and Wayne.
A viewing will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, March 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery at 6500 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. The funeral services and will be held on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 am with a viewing beginning at 9:30 am at 851 N. 1200 E. in Lehi, Utah. The Interment will be held in his honor at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery at 6500 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah on Thursday, March 12th immediately following the services.Service Information
