John Brian & Eileen Smith

1932 — 2025

West Jordan

John Brian and Eileen Dorothy Smith, both 92, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away just five days apart, after almost 71 years married. They were married on March 13, 1954, in Reading, England. They immigrated to the United States in 1964.

Eileen was born in Surrey, England, on November 23, 1932. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, sewing, and crafts. She was an amazing seamstress. She loved her grandchildren very much and loved making them and other family members homemade birthday cards. Her first job was a Radiologist in England, and after moving to the United States, she was a Homemaker for many years. She then began working as an Office Administrator at Pulley’s Custom Manufacturing in West Jordan, Utah. Eileen loved everyone.

Brian was born in Portslade, England, on October 10, 1932. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and cycling, just like Eileen, camping, Boy Scouts, and he started raising worms in his later years. He loved animals of all kinds, and they loved him. He was in the Royal Airforce of England. His first job was a Typesetter in England and then for the Salt Lake Tribune in the United States, then he became a Diesel Mechanic at Abbott GM Diesel. He was a very giving and generous man.

Brian and Eileen met at 16 years old at a Cycling Club in Reading, England. They loved playing games and having family game nights. They also loved vacationing in St. George, Utah. Strangers and friends alike met and fell in love with them. Everyone will miss their British accent. Mom loved to share the meaning of FROG (Fully Rely On God). We think they were the G.O.A.T.

They are survived by their three children, Lloyd Smith (Patty), Colleen Salazar (Michael), Veronica Whitehead (James), 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Brians sister Janet Glandville, and Eileens sister-in-law Valerie Portch.

They are predeceased by their parents John and Phyllis Smith, and Frederick and Lucy Portch, brother-in-law John Glanville, Eileen's brother Gerald, granddaughter Shawna Salazar-Andrus, and grandson James Whitehead.

We would love everyone to join a Celebration of Life for Brian and Eileen on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 6:00 pm, at Lifeline Community Church, 4431 Lifeline Lane, West Jordan, Utah 84088.
