Joe M. Herrera

September 14, 1942 — December 9, 2020

Jose Macedonio Herrera, age 78, passed away on December 09, 2020 in Hurricane, Utah. He was born on September 14, 1942, in El Rito, New Mexico to Candido Herrera Sr. and Rebecca Martinez. He married Virginia Arlene Velasquez on November 28, 1959.
Jose liked to go camping, fishing and hunting with his boys. He loved to joke and tell stories of his childhood. He loved to draw and paint and was an extremely talented woodworker. He retired from Teamsters where he helped build several buildings throughout the Salt Lake Valley over the years.
He is survived by his sons Tim (Leslie) Herrera, Chris (Renee) Herrera, and Jose Herrera Jr., his daughters Carmen Herrera and Lysa Herrera, his sisters Mary Trujillo and Sherene Crenshaw, his brother Paul Herrera, and his aunt Carmen, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents Candido Sr. and Rebecca Herrera, his brothers Candido Jr. Oliver, Adolph, Ray, Jimmy, and sister Jeana Leone.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be limited to immediate family only, but can be streamed live online from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Please see below of log in information. Interment to follow at 12:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery (Garden of Valor), 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
 
Following Salt Lake County’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced. For those unable to attend the services, Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a live streaming of the funeral service on Zoom.
