Joe passed away peacefully Friday September 18, 2015 surrounded by his family. Joe was born to Anselmo and Bellarmina Avila in El Rito, NM where he married Sally Gonzales, later divorced. They had 9 children.
He is survived by one brother, Walter (Erma) Avila, his children Helen Gleason, Bella (Charles) Ulibarri, Irene (Tony) Valdez, Mary (Aldolfo) Hernandez, Joe Jr. (Denise) Avila from Colorado, Esther Sanchez, Andy Avila, Bobby (Peggy) Avila and companion Sarah Mansanarez, 25 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, daughter Rayes Mcquiston, and son-in- law Tony Valdez.

An hour evening Rosary and Vigil will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 6:00pm at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday September 23, 2015 one hour prior to the funeral Mass at St. Josephs from 10:30-11:30. Services will be in the chapel at St. Josephs Villa at 11:30.
