Joannie Renee Martino Worthington

May 31, 1947 — November 23, 2019

Joannie Renee Martino Worthington passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 23, 2019.
Joannie was born May 31, 1947 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to John Emilio and Ginette Theus Martino.
After graduating from Beaver Falls High in 1965 she shared her creativity and artistic abilities as a window dresser at the local G.C. Murphy Store.
She raised five children, Tasha, Erin, Keith, Jessica and Kevin.
After moving to Utah she worked for Sears Roebuck, Eastern Airlines, Delta Airlines and for Veteran Affairs.
Joannie was a devoted convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sharing her strong testimony and love of Jesus Christ while serving in numerous callings including Primary, Cub Scouts, Young Womens and Relief Society.
Joannie continued her love for the arts and education by learning to tole paint, creating stained glass, beautiful calligraphy writing, card making and several cooking classes.
Our mother taught us the value of hard work, good food, a love of travel and great friendships. She enjoyed many across-the-globe flights to different locations with friends during her time working for Delta Airlines.
Being a single mother, she wanted to give her children and grandchildren the opportunity to travel and explore the world to such places as: Arizona, California, Georgia, Hawaii, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Denver, San Antonio, Seattle, Mt. Rushmore, Mall of America, Hill Cumorah, Canada, Costa Rica, and Europe. Mom’s favorite trip was to Bruges, Belgium. Her trip to Tokyo kick started her love of fake food. When the grandchildren turned 10 years old she would take each of them to a location of their choice.
After an early retirement from Delta, Joannie started working for the VA where she met many new friends and made lasting relationships. Shortly after her retirement from the VA Joannie was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis.
Following many trips to the ER, hospital stays and skilled nursing facilities it was time to move to an assisted living home. Luckily that was just next door to the home she had enjoyed for 18 years.
Joannie was a loving grandmother to Parker (Bryn) Beach, Dexter Beach, Annika Carson, Layla Worthington, Thomas Carson, Ella Carson, Grace Worthington and Corban Worthington.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Ginette Martino and sister, Tina Martino.
Survived by: John (Leslie) Martino, North Carolina; Tasha (John) Beach, Salt Lake City; Erin (Nat) Carson, Salt Lake City; Keith Worthington (Kelliann Fallows), Salt Lake City; Jessica Worthington, Idaho Falls; Kevin Worthington (Alicia Leon), Salt Lake City; and eight grandchildren.
