Joan Neeley

April 22, 1929 — June 15, 2014

The spirit of Joan Bird Neeley, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, ascended to heaven on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Joan was born April 22, 1929, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Phyllis Eliza and David Osborne Bird. Joan attended Madison High School in Rexburg. She married Lynn Neeley in 1948 and lived and worked in Rexburg raising five children: Kelley (Detroit, Michigan); Kristine Jensen (San Juan Capistrano, California); David (Dubai, UAE); Scott (Stafford, Texas); and Steven (Colorado Springs, Colorado).
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her five beloved children, 9 grand children, and 12 great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Mt. View Memorial Cemetery on Friday, June 20, 2014 where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a beautiful lady who brought smiles and love to all those who she touched. Many came to know her as a craft-savvy gal who was always enjoying a new-found project or hobby. She particularly loved to paint on canvas and achieved a style all her own. At home, she displayed many of her beautiful creations. She was always the perfect hostess and greeted everyone with a smile and a friendly “hello”.
Her great love was also found in gardening where she planted and cared for flowers and plants that were her pride and joy. She always surrounded herself with the beautiful outdoor colors of lush greens and bright flowers.
Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South – Salt Lake City, Utah.
