Jimmy William Wesley Gray, born on April 7, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on October 27 2024, in Tooele, Utah. A man of deep faith and a cherished member of his community, Jimmy's life was marked by devotion to his faith, love for music and sports, and commitment to his values.
Jimmy dedicated his career to working security for Universal Records, a role that allowed him to be deeply involved in the vibrant world of music that he loved so much. His appreciation for music spanned various genres, with prominent favorites including Tupac, Steely Dan, and War. He carried this passion with him throughout his life, often finding joy in the melodies that resonated with his spirit.
An athlete in his youth, Jimmy played football at Compton Junior College after attending North Dakota State University.
In his personal life, Jimmy was known for being a homebody who cherished the simple pleasures. A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, he found great solace in attending church at Crenshaw Christian Center under Reverend Price. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him through both joys and challenges.
Jimmy enjoyed riding his bike, and taking walks with his brother, Lindsey. He was also a passionate supporter of the USC Trojans, taking pride in his team's achievements.
He leaves behind his brother Lindsey Gray Jr., nephew Desmond Thompson, and great nephew Giovanni Thompson, alongside several cousins who will cherish their memories of him.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Turntine and Lindsey Gray Sr., and sister, Linda Louise Gray.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, both taking place at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6500 South, Redwood Road, in West Jordan, UT 84123.
