Laurel Jill Washburn, 50, wife, mother and friend, died from a prolonged battle with cancer on May 27, 2018. In the days prior to her death she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Brigham City, Utah, on July 4, 1967, to Norman Robbins Layton and Geniel Frost.
She married her love and best friend, Gavin Washburn, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in October 2nd of 1992. They have 3 children, Hayden (24), Anna (21), and Grant (17).
Jill studied at Weber State University on a music scholarship. She later transferred to Utah State University (Go Aggies!) and received her degree in accounting. She worked at KPMG as a CPA, until she had her first child.
Throughout her life she was active in the gospel and loved serving in many capacities including primary, relief society, and young women. She especially loved working with the youth.
Jill was a loving, kind and spirited person who centered her life around service. She relished her close relationships with her husband and children. Family came first. Jill developed many important friendships in her life. She loved traveling with her friends. She had a deep love of music and was an accomplished flutist. At age 40, she fulfilled a life-long desire by learning to play the piano. Because of her musical passion, she was adamant that her children took voice and music lessons.
She is survived by her husband and three children, her siblings; Barry Smith, David Layton (Dawn), Christine Leonard (Bill), and Robin Davis (Tommy).
Her love was felt by many and she will be missed by us all.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. at the Bridlewood Ward, 165 W Monarch Dr, Bountiful, UT. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 at the same location. Interment will take place at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 E Lakeview Dr, Bountiful, UT.Service Information
