Jacqueline Linda Kriss Boggs, known to everyone as Jill, passed away on January 2, 2019 surrounded by family in her granddaughter’s home in Herriman, UT. Jill was born October 16, 1939 in Cleveland, OH to Howard Edwin Kriss and Olivia Darling Watkins. The Kriss family moved to El Paso, TX, where Jill graduated from Austin High School. She played 4 years of varsity tennis for the Panthers. While working for Mountain Bell, Jill could be found putting around El Paso in her red convertible Fiat Bianchina. On March 5, 1960 Jill married her true love Billy Joe Boggs, a young soldier from Best, TX. Together they lived a real-life fairy tale, devoted to each other. Jill and Bill lived in El Paso until 1973, when they moved to Cottonwood Heights, UT. After Bill retired, they lived in Hideaway Valley, UT until Bill’s dementia forced them to move.
Jill loved kids, we mean LOVED kids. My kids, your kids, everyone’s kids. She would teach them songs, play games, and read them stories. One of her most cherished experiences was working as a Head Start teacher. As she once said to a yet-to-be-expecting granddaughter-in-law, “You know what makes Christmas fun? KIDS!”
Jill enjoyed playing tennis with the ladies at the Canyon Racquet Club and square dancing with the Fun Time Squares. She made so many wonderful friends. Jill liked to fish, camp, hike, and fish. Yes, we did say fish twice! When hiking with family, Jill would “bribe” the kids with Tootsie Pops if they would hike to the next ridge. Jill played each play with her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State Buckeyes.
The family would like to thank Mindy and the rest of the crew at the Wentworth in Draper for making the time Mom waited to be reunited with Dad enjoyable.
Jill was preceded in death by her sweetheart Billy Joe Boggs. She is survived by her brother Fred Kriss, sisters Ann Kriss and Mary Quimbey; son Jack(Karen) Boggs and daughter Lende(Dave) Ramaley; grandkids: Amanda(Aneef), Alisha(Mike), Amy, Wes(Mallory), and Derek(Taelor); great grandkids: Isaiah, Myah, DeShawn, Chonte, Ambrea, Zeke, Amari, Quinton, and Arion.
