Jerry Dean Pierce Sr. passed away peacefully on April 14, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1937, in Lyman, Utah, the son of Jonathan Hyrum & Thisbe Callahan Pierce. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1955. He married Janice Larson on June 6, 1956. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1961 and together raised 5 children. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. Jerry lived a very active, hard working and productive life. He served in the National Guard from 1955-1960. He had a passion for his profession which was in the field of temperature controls. He found great success and satisfaction in running his own business, Precision Control Service. He loved the outdoors and spent many years camping, hunting and fishing with various friends and family. He loved to travel and took his children on cherished family vacations all over the United States. He was able to live out one of his life dreams by serving a mission with his wife during the 1997 reenactment of the wagon train which was one of the highlight’s of his life. Jerry loved projects, tools, yard work, ice cream, hot baths, animal shows, home depot, great deals, the Utah Jazz and any time one of his children walked through the door. He found his greatest joy in being with his family and made every one of them feel special and loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ted Pierce, and sisters Hazel Nelson and Margaret Allen. He is survived by his loving wife Janice Pierce and their five children: Jerry Pierce Jr. “Buck” (Becky) Pierce, Shelly (Burt) Kunzler, Karen (Ross) Kunzler, Dan (Michelle) Pierce, Linda (Kelly) Kunzler; along with 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his brother Fred (Judy) Allen, his sisters Kay (Rex) Frehner, Charlotte (John) Archer, Sister-in-law Lorraine Pierce, and brother-in-law Jim Nelson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 12:00 pm at the Davis Creek Chapel, 853 S. 50 E. Farmington, Utah. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Friday evening, April 18, and from 10:30- 11:30 am prior to the services. Both viewings will be held at the Davis Creek Chapel.
