Jerry Duane Welch

February 16, 1938 — November 19, 2017

Jerry was born in price Utah to Wilbur Lee Welch and Wilma Hanks, then at about age 2 his parents separated. The family lived in Green River. Jerry was happy in Green River in his early childhood spending time with his cousins, other relatives and his Grandpa Charles Rich Hanks. His sisters and him made many found memories during their life in Green River. At about age 7, his mother, his three older sisters Greta, Willene, Patrica  and him moved to Salt Lake City and eventually ended up in Murray, Utah. Many adventures, struggles and memories with friends and family happened in his youth. His mother remarried and another sister, Mary and brother, Gene were added to the family.
 
He went to Murray High School where his development of his wood crafting skills came about. Jerry Graduated Murray High school in 1956 and joined the Army National guard serving till 1962. During his service in the Guard, he fell in love, got married to Marilyn Mattonen and had a son, Jeff.  Divorced a short time later.
Falling in love again, got married to Judy Hartman and had 2 more sons, Duane, Chad, plus a daughter Jennifer.  These years were filled with many wonderful experiences and memories camping with cousins, ball games and just hanging out on Sundays. They later divorced.
Jerry enjoyed carpentry work where his attention to detail was renowned as a Finish carpenter.  He received a Associate Business degree in management and Accounting. Worked at Champion Builders as a office manager and automotive repair at Chevron. He also loved puttering and could fix about anything.
He enjoyed visiting family and friends and is well loved.  He will be remembered for his contagious laughter, his desire to help others in need, even when he was short on time or money.
 
Jerry leaves behind his four children: Jeff (Carolyn), Duane, Chad (Michelle), Jennifer  Hill ( Jimmy).
Sisters: Patricia Harvey, Mary Lewis Gatlin (Drew). 9 grand kids and 10 great grand kids and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Preceded in death by: his parents father Wilbur Lee Welch, Mother Wilma Hanks, brother Charles Eugene Lewis, Sisters: Greta Flanagan, Alice Willene Levy. Brother in laws: Ken Harvey, Frank Levy.
 
We appreciate the love and concern from the staff at Cottonwood Creek Assisted living showed him while he was there.
 
As per Jerry’s wishes, no funeral or viewing was to be done. A celebration of life held on Saturday November 25th by family and close friends. If we missed you then please feel free to contact us or just take a moment to remember him and hug family and friends.
