Jeffrey Paul Allen

February 28, 1952 — May 26, 2021

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Jeffrey Paul Allen passed from this earthly life into the next. He left behind his sweetheart, Sue, whom he married on June 5, 1971. Together they created a loving family; George (Carrie), Pete (Wendy), Lyndi (Drew), and Andy (Kelly). Jeff leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jeff’s life can be described as hot and cold, up and down, Yin and Yang, happy and sad. He was born and raised in Southern California and loved a raging bonfire and sweet corn boiled in the salt water while at the beach. He owned his own janitorial business, he worked in the oil industry and then moved on to Garden Grove Police Department, where he worked his way up to Communications Supervisor and a civilian hostage negotiator. His time at GGPD shaped a lot of his life, fostered life-long friendships and cultivated a lifetime of traumatic memories. He also worked in preventative maintenance for his church and property management.
Jeff and Sue took their “vacation of a lifetime” on a 14-day Mediterranean cruise to Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt. Jeff was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His faith and testimony were very dear to him. His favorite calling was serving as the Executive Secretary to President Lester Lauritzen in the Jurupa California Stake in Riverside, CA. Alongside Sue, they served two service missions for The Church after moving to the Salt Lake Valley.
While he has had many injuries and ailments throughout his life, Jeff’s health began to falter in 2005. He had multiple heart attacks, 2 valves in his heart replaced, chronic pain and was 100% oxygen dependent. He was very proud that he was a “2020 Covid Lockdown Survivor” and was looking forward to getting back to visiting family and taking day trips. However, a recent decline in his kidney function caused some confusion and ultimately led to his passing.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Lake Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, UT 84123 on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
