Jefferson Spencer Baty

Jefferson Spencer Baty, age 61, returned to his Father in Heaven while surrounded by his family on August 15th, 2016.
He was born October 29th, 1954 in Moab, Utah. He was one of 6 children born to his parents Henry Elzie and Jennie Spencer Baty. He married his sweet wife of 35 years, Sharon Colleen McIntyre, on April 16th, 1981 and became the parents of 5 children. They were sealed for time and all eternity on December 11th, 1987 in the Jordan River Temple.
As a young man, he enjoyed many outdoor activities with his family. He loved bike riding with his children, taking camping trips to places such as Monticello and the High Uintah’s, catching a large bass on the lake or hunting whitetail deer.
In 1989, while still a young man, he suffered a severe back injury which significantly limited his ability to perform daily activities. After undergoing many surgeries to correct the injury, they unfortunately each caused further debilitation. He never let his injury set him back and found many new interests in life. His new passions included Genealogy, Indexing for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, computer technology, and spending hours communicating with others around the world on his Ham Radio. After fighting 27 years of pain and suffering, he finally is relieved of his earthly suffering.
He is survived by his brothers, George (Joy), Joseph (Karen), Walt, and sister Margaret (Paul) Steed. His children, Jennifer S. (Chris) Pahl, Bethany R. (Scott) Graham, Jeff M., Kimberly A., Jonathon S. (Jamie), and his beautiful nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Elzie and Jennie Spencer Baty, and his brother Floyd Temple Baty.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 19th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 10600 S. 1050 E. Sandy, Utah 84094. Funeral services will include another viewing from 9 – 10 a.m. followed by a chapel service beginning at 10 a.m. located at 10600 S. 1050 E. Sandy, Utah 84094.
Interment will be at Lake View Mortuary and Cemetery located at 1650 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful, Utah 84010 at 1:15 p.m.Service Information
