Jeanine E Noorda

January 10, 1933 — April 26, 2021

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father’s loving embrace on April 26, 2021. She passed peacefully in her sleep in Sandy, Ut.
Jeanine was born January 10, 1933 in Nieuw-Amsterdam (which is now Emmen), Netherlands. She was born to loving parents and was the 9th child of 14.
When World War II came to the Netherlands, she and her brothers and sisters (except the youngest) were sent off to a Children’s Village. She loved her siblings dearly and took it upon herself at such a young age to care for her younger brothers and sisters while they were there. They remained at the Children’s Village after the war ended, until they finished school or chose a career.
She knew from a young age she wanted to be a nurse and when she had the opportunity to go to a school to further her dreams at age 14, she left the Children’s Village.
She loved being a nurse. She was a registered nurse and worked up to become a head nurse. She was always striving to further her career.
She loved being with friends and family but never really took the time to go on dates. She had doctors, nurses, friends and family that were constantly trying to “hook” her up.
She always loved to travel and being a nurse allowed her to work in different towns and hospitals. In 1958 she settled in Zeist, Netherlands to be close to her family. One night she came home to a note in her mailbox from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A few days later the missionaries came over and asked her for 5 minutes of her time, she declined as she had never heard of this church and had other plans. She asked them to come back in the next few days and they said they couldn’t. She shut the door in their face and never expected to see them again. Three weeks later the missionaries came back and asked again for 5 minutes. She eventually agreed, got baptized and became a devoted member.
She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tonga. After her mission she came to visit her branch president in Draper, Ut. Little did they know they would soon become her in-laws.
She met LaMar Noorda on that visit and that changed her life. She went back to Holland to be released from her mission, LaMar would call often and they would send letters back and forth. After a few months of corresponding LaMar sent her a one way ticket back to Salt Lake. She accepted and the day she arrived LaMar proposed.
They were married December 3, 1976 in the St George temple in Southern Utah.
In 1979 they had their only daughter Elisabeth.
They had an amazing, loving, whirlwind 44 years of love and happiness. She was devoted to her family, her two granddaughters (whom she loved dearly and was so proud of) and her faith to the very end.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Arnold, Willem, Meta, Roelof, Elsinus, Truus, Jan, and Johannes.
She will always be missed by her devoted husband and soulmate LaMar Noorda, their daughter Elisabeth (Jason) and her two grandchildren Aysia and Kloey. Her step children, Jan, Kim (Reed), Cathy, LaMar (Elise), Tina (Tom), Al (Naittilee), Nancy, Chris (Jodie), and all of their grandkids and great grandkids.
