Jean Ekker

Our loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday the day prior, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Lee and Nellie Goodrich on March 24, 1929. When she was two, her family, parents and her brother Edward and sister, Donna, moved from Butlerville, UT to Silver City, UT, where she spent her childhood and young adult life. She met her sweetheart, A. Duane Ekker, in Eureka, at the local grocery store where she worked and married on May 26, 1947. They and their young children, Craig and Nancy, moved to Murray, UT in 1956 where they lived until retiring in Goshen, UT in 1987.
Her life was vibrant and full of memorable experiences that kept her soul warm in her later years. She loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoying countless adventures in the outdoors and at her beloved Sheeprock Ranch. Being well-renowned for her baking skills, her goods were always in high-demand, especially her homemade scones. Her other favorite pastimes included crocheting and quilting, keeping her family warm in afghans and hats. She loved to just visit and ‘shoot the bull’ with her favorite people and will be dearly missed, but is now with her sweetheart on a new adventure.
She’s survived by her son, Craig(Dixie), her daughter, Nancy(Ralph), her grandchildren, Sheralyn, Tory(Alica), Stacy(Brandon), Trina, Terri and her great-grandchildren, Cedar, Sage, Braxton, Jaden, Alexie, Makenzie, Brinlee, Hagen, Zac, Brycen, Sidnee, Shaylee, Shelton, Kierra, Aja and 2 great-great grandchildren, Carter & Macie.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 30th at 10:00am, followed by a graveside service at 11:00am at Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123. A luncheon will be held in her honor following the graveside service at 1004 W Tuscany View Road, Midvale.
