Jayden Caleb Benson

May 12, 2003 — October 21, 2020

Jayden Caleb Benson was born to Monica Itchon and Michael Benson on May 12, 2003 in Murray, Utah. He passed away in Taylorsville, Utah on October 21, 2020. The lives of Jayden’s family and friends have been shattered by his passing and our lives are forever changed.
Jayden was a loving, fun, compassionate young man whom we all were very proud. He was intelligent, inquisitive, kind, and always had a new joke to share. In his younger years, Jayden played Junior Jazz and played flag football for JL Sorensen Recreation Center with his brothers Preston and Jordan.
Jayden attended Taylorsville High School as a senior. He excelled in his favorite class (welding), under the instruction of Mr. Groveaux, whom he highly respected. Jayden was creative and made beautiful woodworking projects which the family will forever treasure having. He loved playing Xbox with his uncle, brothers, friends and cousins. Jayden also enjoyed fishing, watching and learning the game of rugby, and was a hard-core Dallas Cowboys fan.
His pride and joy was his 1991 Jeep Cherokee which he acquired this summer. He cherished working with his Uncle CJ and cousin DJ in making it mechanically sound and was very appreciative for their assistance. Jayden had a small yet very important and special circle of friends from Taylorsville High School whom he loved.
Jayden is survived by his parents, step-mother Sabrina Ahmad, grandparents Lynn Itchon, Ted and Ann Itchon, Scott and Krystal Benson, Dee and Roger Forgeron; Michelle and Adam Houasli and Grandma Marilyn; great-grandparents Deanna and Frank Fredella and Chuck and JoAnne Phillips; sisters Azia, Makayla and Makynlee; brothers Preston, Jordan and Damon; uncles Thomas and CJ; Aunt Michelle; 7 cousins and 1 niece. The Benson side of the family contains many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Jayden had a large extended family and loved spending time with all of us.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Lynn Miller Jackson of Hilltop United Methodist Church for conducting the memorial service. Our coworkers, friends and neighbors are thanked for their outpouring of love, prayers, cards, flowers and meals. We are thankful to Jayden’s special friends, Nina, Sierrah, Holly and Jaycob for the cards, flowers and comforting visits, and for Emma in creating the front yard memorial. Memorial Redwood Mortuary is thanked for their professionalism and care during this incredibly challenging time. We also thank Unified P.D. for looking for and locating Jayden.
Face coverings are required to enter the Memorial Redwood Mortuary building. Because of COVID-19 restrictions the memorial service is limited to family members and a few invitees. The memorial service will be a casual event but dress as you like.
