Jay Francis Green

Long time resident of Murray, Utah, passed from this life the morning of December 29, 2024.

Jay was born February 18, 1945, in Murray, Utah to F. Glen Green and Lovella Johnson Green. As a youth he was active in the neighborhood and the Murray 7th ward. He attended school in Murray school district, graduating from Murray High School with the class of 1963. From high school he went on to Utah State University, working with the athletic department for two years. Joining the National Guard in the 1960's where he was proud of his service.

Jay married Jane L. Harrison on April 21, 1970. Jay and Jane raised three beautiful daughters, Michelle, Kerry, and Jamie. For eighteen years Jay served as Salt Lake County Sherriff's deputy. His greatest pleasure was patrolling on his motorcycle, first to get it out in the spring and last to put it away in the fall. He particularly enjoyed riding in parades and escorting many funerals. Returning to the National Guard, Jay serves as base security at the U.S. Air Force, Salt Lake City, until his retirement. 

Jay was preceded in death by his former wife, Jane L. Harrison, daughter Carrie Green Carroll, daughter Jamie Green, father F. Glen Green, mother Lovella J. Green, sister Jolene Green Pattison, sister Karla Jo Green Beckstead. 

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Green Berry and Doug, grandchildren Jordan Berry, and Anya, Austin Berry and Shannon, Shawn Berry and Megan, Dillon Gines and Kiera. Kaden Carroll, Kenadee Carroll, seven great grandchildren. Three brothers Delwin Green and Linda, Scott Green and Sherri, Dannie Green and Suzanne, three sisters Kathy Green Mackay and Dee, Jannette Green Gardner and Less, Tammie Green Silotti and Craig, many relatives and friends. 

Jay's heart was pure gold, often turning to liquid as he gave to those that he felt needed more than he. He will be long remembered and missed.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary; 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Per Jays request their will not be a public viewing prior to services. Interment; Utah Veterans Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah.
