Jay Floyd Pryor

May 7, 1937 — May 26, 2022

Jay Floyd Pryor, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather peacefully passed away on May 26, 2022. Jay was born on May 7, 1937, in Minersville, Utah to Grant and Blanche Pryor. Jay served in the Gulf States Mission and then went on to faithfully serve in many callings for the LDS church. After his mission, he attended Northern Arizona University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. His college years were some of his best; he met the love of his life, Janis Smith, and married her in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They spent 56 loving years together and raised 5 children, sharing their love of the outdoors, music and sports. He jumped at any chance to spend time outdoors hunting and fishing in the Beaver Mountains. His love for softball extended to officiating games for the American Softball Association as well as coaching fast pitch, which earned him the ZCMI Civic Award for Excellence. He was an avid fan of the opera, New York Yankees and BYU sports.
Jay is survived by his five children; Bryan (Shirley), Marla (Tim), Renae (Chad), Allen (Melanie) and Deborah; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis, parents Grant and Blanche, sister Evva Joan and brother Robert Grant.
