Our much loved Jay A. Price, age 75, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 24, at his home. Family and friends treasured this big-hearted and charismatic man and will miss him deeply.
He was born in his grandmother’s home in Duchesne, Utah, on April 21, 1941. At the young age of 4, his mother, Emma Jensen Price, died. Jay was raised in the Uintah Basin by his father, Arch Price, and felt close to him throughout his life. During his dad’s final years, Jay moved him into his home and became his tender caretaker.
Jay married Delila Hardman and together they raised their son, Farrell Lloyd Price, who was the joy of their lives. He and Delila later divorced. He also married and divorced Annette Riley. He spent his final years with Arlene Potter, whom he dearly loved and valued so much.
Above all else, Jay had a gift for sensing if someone was in need, offering help, and making others feel valued. His quiet generosity and kindness were legendary.
Jay was always a real charmer and a man who fully lived a life on his own terms. His playful humor drew people to him; he enjoyed gently teasing his grandchildren and they adored him.
He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union and spent over 30 years traversing the country he so loved.
He is survived by his son, Farrell; Arlene; granddaughters; Elizabeth Richards, Janelle Bottelson, Tera Price, Shantel Price and 5 great-grandchildren. Jay is also survived by siblings Virginia Price, Molly Hardman, Lorraine Erickson, Don Price, and Lynn Belt. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, LaVonda Hardman and Emma Jean Price.
