Died on May 16, 2020, in Midvale, Utah. He was born on August 24, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Hughes Rencher and Sharon Kay Rencher. He married Leslie Jo Wardle on June 18, 1993. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Taiwan, Taipei Mission. He attended the University of Utah where he received a BA Degree in English and a JD in Law. He served for 2 years as clerk to Justice Howe of the Utah Supreme Court. He practiced law for 20+ years as a bankruptcy attorney in several small firms and eventually his own firm. He left being an attorney to become a Special Education Teacher and received a BA Degree from Utah State University in Special Education in 2019. He taught Special Education for 3 years at Providence Hall Junior High and Ascent Academy Junior High. He was married to his wife Leslie for 27 years and together they raised 5 children. His family was everything to him. He enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could, traveling, camping, hiking, boating and attending writing conferences and gaming/comic cons. He loved reading and writing and some of his short stories were published in anthologies. He was a member of the League of Utah Writers. He is survived by his wife, Leslie, and his five children, Katherine “Blake”, Emily, David, Jonathan, and Sarah. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Sharon Rencher. A viewing will be held on Wednesday May 27th at 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123.
Due to the landscape of COVID-19, all gatherings are limited to minimal amount of people. There will be staff at the door that will be counting those who enter and you may be asked to wait some time before entering the building, to abide by the guidelines set by the CDC and Federal Government. Wearing a mask is encouraged, however, if you are sick, the family and mortuary asks that you stay home and send your love and support another way.
