Janice Pierce

January 14, 1938 — June 22, 2015

Janice LaDean Larson Pierce, 77, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2015 surrounded by her children. She was born January 14, 1938 in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Eugene Allen Larson and Dorothy Maybelle Willhoite. Jan lived all of her life in Utah. At the age of 17, she was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful member for her entire life. She was a pillar of strength and a great example to her family and friends as she served the Lord in many callings. She attended East High School, sang in the a’cappella choir, and graduated in 1956. She married Jerry Dean Pierce on June 6th, 1956. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6th, 1961 and together were blessed with 5 beautiful children…. Buck, Shelly, Karen, Dan & Linda.
Everyone loved Jan as she was loyal, nurturing, supportive and creative. Jan will be remembered for her spunky, sassy nature, but most of all for her unending love and devotion she showed as a mother. Many family and friends were blessed by her wise counsel and willingness to rescue the wounded. She was very talented with her hands, including cross stitching, quilting, & crocheting. She was a fabulous cook and seldom used a recipe. She loved music and had a beautiful alto voice and loved to sing in the ward choir, on family vacations, and around the house.
Some of her favorite things were spending time with her family, camping trips to Fish Lake, baked goods, Utah Jazz, the wagon train, puzzles, and apples. It was important for her to attend all of her family’s various events, even down to her great-grandchildren. “I’m Still The Mother!”
Jan was survived by her five children: Jerry Pierce Jr. “Buck” (Becky) Pierce, Michelle “Shelly” (Burt) Kunzler, Karen (Ross) Kunzler, Dan (Michelle) Pierce, Linda (Kelly) Kunzler; along with her sister Shari Dianne Larson, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Eugene & Jimmy Larson, and her sister Barbara Holtz.
Viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Davis Creek Chapel (853 So. 50 E. Farmington, UT). Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday evening, and from 10:30 – 11:30 am prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery.
