She received an education at South High School, and the University of Utah, where she met her sweetheart Sharp Burton in an English class. Janice and Sharp were married on February 17, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1981, and were sealed to their three children on June 23, 2018 in the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple.

After retiring from the telephone company, Janice took a job working in the lunchroom at Bonneville Junior High School.

Janice loved going on cruises and trips with her family. She especially enjoyed going on an African Safari trip, cruising to Alaska and Hawaii, and listening to the Oakridge Boys perform at Lake Tahoe. She made many precious memories with her family that will never be forgotten. Janice loved dogs and took such good care of her furry friends over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Janice is survived by her daughter Shauna Burton, her son Scott (Rachel) Burton, a daughter-in-law LaNae Burton, brothers Keith Wheeler and Lawrence (Cheryl) Wheeler, sister-in-law Annette Oakes, one granddaughter, and three great grandsons.
