Jane Lund

Jane Ellacile Ipson Whitehead Lund was born November 4, 1934 during the deepest days of the Great Depression. She passed August 24, 2017 into the waiting arms of her beloveds. Jane’s mother, Ella Lucile Ipson Whitehead passed away shortly after her birth and Jane was raised by her grandparents in Salt Lake City. She graduated from East High School and continued on at the University of Utah, graduating in elementary education. During this time Jane met and married Val Jensen Lund. Jane and Val ran their farm on Creek Road in Sandy Ut while he taught school. In addition to supervising the farm and raising the children, Jane worked as a freelance writer and illustrator. She served on several committees for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, writing Home Evening, Seminary and Primary manuals. She worked in her local ward and stake in many capacities. Along the way, she published 4 books for children and self published several books of poetry. Jane loved her rescued retrievers, Lab and Golden, flowers, gardening, writing, drawing, cooking, telling stories and public speaking.
Jane is survived by her children, Eva (Cory Belliston), Robert (Kuma) Neils (Cindy) Lucy (Charles Johnson) and 10 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
Services for Jane will be held on August 31, 2017 at 11:00 at the Mt. View 1st ward, 8760 S 3200 West. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and one hour before services at the church. Donations in her memory may be made to The Humane Society of Utah, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness. The family would like to thank from the bottom of their hearts the staff of Silverado and Alta Ridge Memory Centers for their loving support of Jane’s last years.
