Jane Lauth

January 11, 1935 — March 29, 2015

Jane Hinckley Lauth, 80, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully March 29, 2015 at Intermountain Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. Jane was born January 11, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Mary Alice Walker Hinckley and Eugene Callister Hinckley, both educators. She graduated from East High School, attended the University of Utah and fulfilled her life-long dream of teaching business courses at several area high schools including Cottonwood High until her retirement. She was the beloved wife of the late George Lauth and beloved sister to late siblings Howard, Ann and Tom Hinckley. She is survived by her niece Kathleen Hinckley, sister-in-law Debbie Hinckley, step-children Larry Lauth, Georgeann Lauth, Julie Kearns and Teri Serafini, numerous grandchildren and cherished friend Audrey Turner.
Jane embodied the unharnessed spirit of Utah and was often pulled over by radar-gripped police officers as she joyfully sped thru town in her Subaru Brat, usually in feverish pursuit of hot fudge sundaes with peppermint ice cream at Snelgrove’s en route to a Robert Peterson concert. Family and friends were gleefully whisked away to concerts, casinos and canyons galore. With that ever-mischievous twinkle in her eye and “pedal to the metal” spirit of adventure, our memories of good times with our beloved Jane will roll on down the highway. Jane’s Life Grade: A+. To honor Jane’s memory, or the memory of your favorite teacher, favorite step-mom or favorite co-conspirator in fun, help an animal in need through adoption or donation to the Humane Society of Utah.
