Jameson Ladaynian Smith

Jameson Ladaynian Smith, beloved son, brother, grandson and nephew completed his earthly mission on May 1, 2018. He was born 3 months premature on April 9, 2017, weighing only 1 lb 2 oz. He passed away peacefully in his mother and father’s arms, surrounded by his family.
Jameson was loved by all who knew him, but his influence extends much further than mere personal acquaintance. From the moment he was born, he had to fight for his life and he was a survivor of many severe challenges. The hospital became his home, where he recently celebrated his first birthday with his family and with the nurses and doctors who came to know and love him too.
Jameson’s smile and excitement were contagious. He loved attention and was excited to play with anyone who came to visit him. Although he couldn’t talk, he would communicate by shaking his head and smiling. If he didn’t want something you were offering, he would simply look away and ignore you or shake his head “no.”
Jameson was truly a gift from heaven. He came with a light that burned brightly, a light that will remain with us throughout our lives. He taught us that no matter how daunting life’s challenges can be, we can and should face our challenges without fear or trepidation. Unfortunately, his physical body wasn’t strong enough to support his will to survive.
Jameson is now with his loving Heavenly Father. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his parents, Lara and Ryan and his sisters, Brixton and Jordyn. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing from 11:00 to 12:45 at the LDS chapel, 5349 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah.
