James Wallace Carlisle

January 23, 1935 — April 21, 2022

James Wallace Carlisle returned to his Heavenly home on April 21st, 2022.
Jim was born January 23rd, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Owen and La Reta Carlisle.
Jim was always a hard worker. In his youth he did many jobs on the family farm and from a young age helped support his family with a paper route. He worked for Miller Honey and later employed as a mechanic at Strong Volkswagen in Salt Lake City for more than 50 years.
Jim was a devoted husband and father. He married Tamara Lynn Hartle December 2nd, 1957. They were the parents of 9 children; Kathy, Judy, Cecil, Jackie, Laurie, Joy, Jolean, Kevin, and Ron.
Jim loved His Savior Jesus Christ. He did his best to be a valiant disciple by wearing out his life in service to others. He cared for the elderly in his area, willing and cheerfully helped family and neighbors continuously, served diligently in many church callings, worked as a service missionary at the Welfare Square Dairy, and together with his wife served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
Jim’s hobbies included softball, a love for the outdoors, fishing, bowling, hunting, gardening, and beekeeping.
He is survived by his wife Tamara, 8 children, 32 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and his sisters Shirley, Sharon, Lois, and Mary Ann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laurie, brother Ray, and grandchildren Jacob and Jonah.
A family graveside service will be held on Friday May 6th at 11:00 A.M. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT 84092.
