James Nielsen Jr.

On September 24, 2015 at 11:50 p.m. James Robert Nielsen Jr. passed away from a battle with Cancer. Born March 9, 1936 to James Sr. Nielsen and Lea Thornton in Emmitt ID. He graduated from West High School and then went on to serve his country for 26 years in the ARNG, USAF, and Utah ANG. He retired as Vehicle Superintendent of the Motor Pool at the rank of E8/SMSgt. Following his military career he went on to drive school bus for 15 years where he met his beautiful wife Rose.
Survived by his wife Rose Nielsen, former wife Nancy Fullmer, Sons – Marty Nielsen (Robin), Robert Nielsen (Brenda), Jerry Nielsen (Teresa), Roman Fruehling (Megan). Daughters – Lori Ragsdale (Jason), Jenny Nelson (Michael), 20 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Jim was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Grandpa. He loved to laugh and tease us all, but his grandchildren were the brunt of this attention. He loved Nascar Racing and he had a passion for coaching baseball, football, and basketball. Many young men will vouch for his leadership, loyalty, and care as they started their journey into their love of sports.
Most of all he loved life…………………..We will miss you ‘Big Jim’
A Graveside Service will be held on October 12, 2015, 10:00 am at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
