James Mounteer

September 3, 1942 — October 7, 2017

“Jimmy” James Joseph Mounteer passed away at home October 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.   He was a dearly loved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, and a hero to many.
He was born September 3, 1942 In Murray, Utah to Ervin and Emma Mounteer and grew up on Creek Road.   He graduated from Jordan High school in 1960.  After many years working as a locksmith, he later went to work with the Granite School District where he retired after 20 years.
Jim was the most loving, social, kind hearted man you ever met.  He was a jokester, a story teller, and a true example of unconditional love.  He had a heart of gold and was a friend to everyone he met.  He was always the one to let you know just how much you meant to him.  He loved his family more than anything including the extended family that he accepted as his own.
He married the love of his life, Marlene Rawson on February 11, 1963 in the Logan Temple. Even after 54 years of marriage he continued to proudly call her “his Bride”.  They were a pure example of everlasting love and devotion.  Together they were blessed with 7 children, 29 Grandchildren, and 29 Great Grandchildren.   His first Grandchild Tyler James, gave him the nick name G.P., and from then on he was known to all the kids as their G.P., short for Grandpa or Great Grandpa.  His family was truly his Pride and Joy.
He is survived by “his Bride”, Marlene Rawson Mounteer, Children: Doug Mounteer, Dianna (David) Jones, Gregg (Marnie) Mounteer, Tiffany (Leon) Uriarte, Shawni Fife, Jami (Mike) Rogers, Heather (Matt) Felt, 29 Grandchildren, and 29 Great Grandchildren.  His Brothers Lindsay Mounteer, Ray (Shawna) Mounteer, and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and In-laws.
The family would like to express their love and gratitude for all the love and support given.  Many thanks to all the family, friends, neighbors, the Crescent 7th Ward, and his Health Care team.
We children would also like to say thank you to our Mother, who lovingly cared for our father.
