James Miller Sr

James Spade Miller, Sr. has left this earth to reunite with his beautiful wife, Jeanene, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. James was born on July 29, 1927, to Jesse Thomas and Margaret Estelle Miller in Elizabeth City County, Virginia. James served his country during WW2. He served in the United States Army in the Tank Corps at Fort Knox, KY and in the Army Air Corps at Camp Kearns, UT.
After the war he went back to Virginia. He loved Utah so much he soon returned. He married Jeanene Hurst on November 9, 1947. James played Professional and Semi-Pro baseball. James worked for Milne Truck Line. James loved the mountains, fishing, spotting wildlife and any ride that came with these activities.
He is survived by his children; Margo Owen (Verl), Julie Smith (Steven), Jeff (Erin), Joe (Kathy), Jason, and Mike (Sherri); sisters; Peggy Owen (Bill), Williamsburg VA, Shirley Miller, Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law; Vivian Miller, Hampton, VA, Doris Miller, Mt. Home, ID; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanene, son James Jr., 8 brothers – Thomas Jr., Albert, Earnest, Raymond, Earl, Bill, Bruce, and Marvin (Big Boy) Miller. 5 sisters – Estelle Eubanks, Lila Reynolds, Mary Staley, Martha (Mop), and Margie Beasley. 3 grandchildren – June Miller, Rachelle Miller and Lindsay Drake Miller. Mom and Dad have 32 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Thanks to the staff at the Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, UT for all their efforts. A private graveside service was held on September 5, 2017. Interment was at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, UT. Online condolences for family and friends can be sent to www.memorialutah.com
