James Leroy Johnson, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, passed away July 23, 2022. Born to Harold and Margaret Davis Johnson on April 4, 1934 in Provo Utah. He had one brother Verdell. Graduated South High School Class of 1953. Enlisted into the Navy Reserve while in high school. Stationed in Kwajalein Hawaii and Adak Alaska where he was a proud SeaBee, a builder for the Navy.
After his discharge he married his sweetheart and neighbor Myrleen Crowton in 1961.They had three children; Pam Driskill, Kim Vanderlaan, Edward (Tomie) Johnson. She passed away in 1984.
He married Flavo Johnson St. Onge in 1986. He gained four more children. He took it in his stride to be Dad to seven children. He loved and worried about each one, helping them to grow into an honest and respectful person.
His profession was construction. Jim worked for John Price for 20 years and then for Eckman & Midgley as a superintendent in commercial construction. Countless homes were built from his designs. It was a hobby to him. He loved to create and then build.
His passion was documenting with his beloved camera. Starting at a young man he was not without his most prized possession. Never was an event, holiday or celebration to begin until the camera was turned on.
His joy was his grandchildren. They all quickly learned at a young age how to mix up his favorite beverage, a whiskey sour. From Camping at Campalot to boating at Lake Powell the memories he created are priceless.
His love was traveling. The world became his world. Traveling every chance he got. Even four times to Paris wasn’t enough, he always wanted to see more.
His dream was that he would be able to influence loved ones to look at life differently, to see how full and wonderful it can be. Fear was not in his vocabulary. Judgment was not his to give. If you met Jim, you loved Jim…. he was a true soul.
