James Kamaya

March 18, 1931 — April 10, 2014

James (Stone) Kamaya was born in Brooks, Oregon, March 18, 1931, to George Shintaro Kamaya and Shizuko Akiyama Kamaya. Passed away at George Wahlen VA Home, Ogden, Utah, April 10, 2014.
He enlisted in the army in 1951 and retired December 31, 1971. Worked for Mountain Bell until his retirement.
He married Reiko Morimoto. Divorced. Two children: daughter, Janice (Mike) Tanaka, and son, Calvin (Akiko). Married In Sun Lee on December 26, 1973.
Survived by wife, In Sun; two brothers: George “Kaz”, Joe (Rose); three sisters: Ruth Oda, Jane (Tom) Watanuki, Roberta (Sam) Chin; brother-in-law, Jenshi Ogawa; Uncle, Mas (May) Akiyama; stepson, Jay (Hyongsuk) Pyon; stepdaughter, Mie (James) Cook; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by parents; son, Anthony; sister, Fumi Ogawa; brother, Robert “Jun”; sister-in-law, Carol Kamaya; brother-in-law, Kohae Oda; and nephew, Kurtis Kamaya.
The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s, and Dr. Stubbs at George Wahlen VA Home, Ogden, Utah for his constant care for the past three years and eight months. Also Bristol Hospice.
The family is having a private memorial service on Saturday, May 10th, at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.deseretmortuary.com. Funeral Directors: Deseret Mortuary.
