James Joseph Morris (Jimmy), 81 passed away February 20, 2021 doing what he loved- Ice Fishing
He was born May 9, 1939 to James and Myrtle Morris in Rock Springs Wyoming. He married the love of his life Susan on December 26, 1964 in Dragerton Utah. They were married for 56 years. He loved his wife Susan dearly, they had a one of a kind marriage that lasted forever, and couldn’t wait to see her again. “He is with Ma”
Dad loved to go ice fishing, fishing, hunting with his son James, and his Grandson JJ. He loved to argue with his Daughter-in-law Jauslyne on who was going to flip the bill, and he always lost. Dad loved hanging out with his son Patrick, and Daughter-in-law Jessica watching all the old Western movies. He was excited when he was asked to be Patrick’s “Best man” at his wedding. He went with Patrick and Ernie to the Hall of Fame Ceremony for Emmitt Smith. Once in a lifetime opportunity that they were all able to do. Dad loved coaching his daughter Crystals softball team for numerous years. They took first place in All-Stars state regional. He treasured their “daddy-daughter” dance at her wedding, She was his “brown eyed girl” Scott was his favorite “son-in-law” and would always joke on how much he made, and it changed daily. Dad loved to watch his late son Ernie play football, he never missed a game, and was proud of him for being the Q.B. of the team. “We love you most dad”
Pompa-is what the Grandkids called him, and boy he loved them all. He attended all their activities, games, races and recitals.
He would go to all of Acia’s softball games. He was excited when Acia, and Tyler gave him 2 Great Grand Daughters. He couldn’t wait for Lyla, and Hazel to get older so that he could coach them one day.
JJ his (sweetie) and Pomp’s his (cutie) had gone on numerous fishing, and hunting trips. Pompa never missed a baseball game He was so happy that JJ, and Taylor had given him a great grandson and kept the name sake going. He couldn’t wait for Baby James to get older so he could teach him how to hunt, and fish “the right way.” He would attend all of Lyndsees softball games, he loved sneaking away with Lyndsee and Matt for lunch. He would attend all of Aspens dance recitals when she was little. They also loved watching scary movies together. He was so excited when Dallas proposed to her. He loved going to watch Braxden being pushed by a friend, and Scott pushing Jayden in the marathons they would run. He couldn’t wait for them to cross the finish line to see their smiles, and he said the best was when they received their metal because they were “just like everyone else.” Although their bonds were a “little different” he was happy, and not one word was ever spoken. He loved all his Grandkids with his whole heart, they each held a special bond. He was so proud of each and everyone of them. “We love you Pomps” Dad always had plenty of stories to tell from “back in the day, always had something funny to say, and their was never a dull moment when he was around. He definitely was one of a kind. He loved LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, Chicago Bears and his all time favorite The Wyoming Cowboys. He loved attending the football games in Wyoming and would go any chance he got. “Go Pokes” He also worked with UDOT for 32 years and made many life long friends. Dad coached many of the All-State soccer players in Utah. He was instrumental in bringing soccer to Cottonwood Heights area in the 1970’s. He was President of the Spring Run Baseball League and loved everything that had to do with sports and loved to be involved. Many nephews, nieces and cousins who he loved to “party with” They all were close to his heart.  He left this world “Gone fishing in the sky”

A special thanks to JJ, Tyler and Karson Jewkes for their endless effort at the lake that day. He is survived by his son James (Jauslyne) Morris, son Patrick (Jessica) Morris, Daughter Crystal (Scott) Shank, Sister Darlene (Wayne) McNeese, Brother Lester. His Grandkids Acia (Tyler),  JJ (Taylor), Aspen (Dallas), Lyndsee (Matt), Jayden, Braxden, and Ryker. Great Grandkids Lyla, Hazel , and Baby James.

He is preceded in death by his wife Susan, son Ernie, his parents James and Myrtle Morris, Sister Myrtle (Tony) Vigil.


Services will be held on March 1’st at Murray Memorial Mortuary; 5850 S 900 E, Murray Utah from 12-2pm with interment to follow at Redwood Mortuaries.
