James “Jimmy” E. Arellano

July 20, 1948 — February 25, 2019

On the morning of February 25, 2019, James was called away from us to join his parents up in heaven. James was born on July 20, 1948, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Arthur and Flora Arellano who were proud to welcome their first-born son. When James was in his teens, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where they settled.
James is survived by his partner Dorothy Arellano; Son Matthew James Arellano (Lynda) Grandchildren Matthew G Arellano and Solei Gonzales; Siblings Connie Casias (Danny), Francis Green (Lynn), Chris Arellano (Theresa); 10 Nieces and 4 Nephews.
James was proud to service his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was happy to share many stories of his time in the service. Soon after returning from his service, he met and married Dorothy (Casias) Arellano. They welcomed their one and only child Matthew James Arellano whom is their pride and joy.
Besides his wife and son, James loved his old cars and music. Music was one of the things he enjoyed the most. He could tell you who sang the song, what year, a story related to the song, and a memory he had with the song in that order. He was such a great storyteller; he could transport you back to that day and time with the details he could remember.
James’ car collection he had over the years will always be remembered. They were always one of a kind and he loved to show them off. He loved to drag State Street and show off his ride and of course find his next victim to race.
James is one of the most caring, giving, selfless and just in general amazing person we know. He gave anything he had to anyone in need and never wanting or asked for anything in return. Helping others is what made him happy; he enjoyed knowing that in some way he had helped out another person.
We will honor him and carry on his memory by leading by his example.
