James Edward Hall, 83, passed away peacefully Dec 2, 2015, after a brave battle with heart and lung disease. Jim was born in Racine, WI, on Mar 29, 1932, son of Robert and Irene (nee: Trebilcock) Hall.
After graduating from Racine High in 1950, Jim joined the Air Force. He was assigned to the 343rd bomb squadron as a starboard scanner (commonly known as ‘gunner’) on a B-29 Superfortress at Yakota Air Force Base in Japan. Jim earned the Air Medal after flying 26 combat missions over North Korea, one of which landed him in the Sea of Japan after his plane was shot down. Jim finished his military service at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho by shuttling B-29s to Arizona for retirement.
Jim met his wife, Jeanne (Syme), at a USO dance in 1954. They married soon after and started their family in Idaho where Jim began a successful career in sales. Married for 61 years, Jim and Jeanne raised their daughter (Tonia) and two sons (Gregory and David) in Idaho and Utah. Jim loved his family and treasured every family gathering. His grandchildren were the light of his life in his later years, which could be seen with his proud smile every time they walked in the door.
Jim was preceded in death by brothers Robert, William, and Donald Hall; and sisters Mary Jensen and Irene Lange Kayon (nee: Hall). Surviving Jim are wife Jeanne (nee: Syme), daughter Tonia Goler, sons Gregory (BobAnn) and David (Heidi), and grandchildren Bryan, Kyle, Audrey, and Scarlett.
A celebration of life open house will be held at the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, (1580 E. Vine Street) on Monday, Dec. 7, 6-8pm. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staffs at St. Marks Hospital, Garden Terrace Care Facility, and the Cardiology Clinic at the University of Utah Medical Center, for their loving and compassionate care.
