James Erwood Henderson, age 80, died on January 1, 2018, in Murray, Utah.  He was born on July 26, 1937, in Bay Harbor, Florida to Willis Lavelle Henderson and Annie Mae Perry. James married Julia Inez Bonner on July 3, 1958.
James was a prolific writer and an avid studier of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He would rather play with children than talk with adults. He enjoyed detailed projects. James loved missionary work and helping the missionaries. He could repair anything. He served a service mission in the SLC inner city mission from 2000-2001 with his wife. James took care of his sweetheart of 60 years when she couldn’t take care of herself.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Henderson; daughter, Debbie Phillips (Ray); grandson, Devin Phillips (Brittney); granddaughters: Natalie Perry (Steve) and Hilary Briscoe (Adam); and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; 2 brother, Jerry Henderson and Perry Henderson; sister, Barbara Schellett; son, James Erwood Henderson, II; and grandson, Edward Perry Phillips.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2 PM at Crescent 5th Ward Chapel 1050 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Memorial Lake Hills Cemetery, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. Condolences at www.MemorialUtah.com.
