It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Elkington Wolfgramm, aged 72, on his birthday, February 26, 2024, in Murray, Utah. Born on February 26, 1952, in Nukualofa, Tongatapu, Tonga Island, James was the devoted son of Makanesi Wolfgramm and Water Lily Tongi.
In August 1969, James and his family migrated to the USA, establishing their new home in Salt Lake City, Utah. On September 9, 1983, he married Fatai Makahili, and although their paths later diverged, they shared the joy of parenthood with their daughter, Lauretta Wolfgramm. James was a dedicated father and provider, working tirelessly to support his family.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James served as a High Priest and contributed to the High Priest Group Leadership. Throughout his life, he worked diligently in the family construction and landscaping business. As his health declined with age, he eventually retired from the business.
James leaves behind cherished memories and is survived by his daughter, Lauretta, as well as his siblings Ramon and Sue Sanft, Deseret Leo, Legrand and Tupou Wolfgramm, Weldon and Jacqueline Wolfgramm, Ensign and Sandy Wolfgramm, Hosea Fifita, John and Malina Wolfgramm, Zodiac Wolfgramm and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Peta and Robert Hansen, sister Lose Fifita, and brother-in-law Mosese Leo.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Edison Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1401 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84104. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by the Bishop's service at 12:00 noon and burial at Redwood
