James Delmar Seely

November 17, 1932 — January 8, 2018

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Mervin Sharp Bennion Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson Utah with his family there. He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers after graduating from college from Utah State University with a bachelors degree in civil engineering and through the ROTC program as lieutenant. He married Anna Lou Orrock on September 8, 1953 in the Manti Temple. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of the Interior as a Civil Engineer in Utah, California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, D.C., and Colorado. Together they served as temple workers in the Washington, D.C., Denver Colorado and Jordan River temples. He was a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He loved his family.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Orrock Seely; his parents, Leslie Cyrus Seely, Sr. and Ora Margaret Johnson; his older brother, Leslie Cyrus Seely, Jr.; and by a great-grandson, Chance Timothy O’Camb.
He is survived by his brother Erin (Jackie) Seely and four children, Jeffery Lynn (Janice), Brent James (Karen), Debra Ann (Timothy) Arnold and Daniel Clair (Mary K); 18 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.

James Delmar Seely worked for the Bureau of Reclamation on the Weber Basin Project in Ogden. He transferred to the Lower Colorado River Project Office in Blythe, California, as office engineer. He then went to the Yuma Project Office in Yuma, Arizona, then to the lower Colorado Regional Office in Boulder City, Nevada. His next move was to the Reclamation’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. with the oversight responsibilities of operation and maintenance. He then transferred to Denver, Colorado with responsibilities to the Secretary of the Department of the Interior. He retired in 1991 and lived in West Jordan with his wife Anna Lou.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Mountain Shadows 4th Ward, 8136 South Old Bingham Highway, West Jordan, Utah 84088-5232. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, January 12, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 with no viewing before the funeral. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
