James Dale Ballegooie

Our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, James Dale Ballegooie, 81, passed away on November 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 20, 1935 to Peter Carl Ballegooie and Amanda Dora Jensen Ballegooie.
Jim was a kind and gentle man who would help anyone who needed it. He worked for International Harvester, partner in South Bountiful Auto Wrecking, and after retiring he worked part time for Utah Auto Auction.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating, hunting, U of U football games, and the Jazz. His greatest passion was cars. He built a dragster which he raced at Bonneville Raceway. Later he built an awesome Shelby Cobra car, which he entered in car shows. Most of all, Jim loved being with his family, they brought great joy to his life.
James married Madeline Hernandez Ballegooie (deceased). He is survived by his children; David Ballegooie, Terri (Jeff) Anderson, Russell Ballegooie, John (Sylvia) Ballegooie, and Rick (Susan) Anderson.
James married his lifelong friend, Colleen Campbell. He is survived by his step-children; Jeff (Jennifer) Campbell, Gayleen (Rick) Schnur, and Reed (Shelly) Campbell, 29 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Draney, and many nieces and nephews.
He is missed by his “furry friends” Murphy and Scruffy.
Preceded in death by his parents, step-son Craig Campbell, sisters; Wanda Christensen, Ruth McCauley, Betty May Rupp, and Marilyn Weiss.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26th at 12:00 PM at Memorial Redwood, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. A viewing at 10:30 A.M. to 11:45 A.M, with interment services to follow.
