On March 24th, 2021 JaJuan Lewis Drage; Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, joined her beloved husband Raymond D. Drage, who passed June 27th, 2014. JaJuan was born February 4th, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vilate Higgins Lewis and LeLand Lewis. She grew up in both St. George and Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended East High School and for a short time after graduation attended the University of Utah. She met “Ray”, the love of her life, and they were married on June 18th, 1949, after his discharge from the U.S. Army. The loving couple raised three beautiful children: Alauna Ruble (Lyle Ruble Jr.), Brent Drage (Leslie Fowkes) and Kristen Goodman (Rodney Goodman).
JaJuan is survived by her sister, Willa Rae Beeman (Bellingham, WA) and sister-in-law, Doris Drage (Salt Lake City, Utah). She is further survived by ten grandchildren: Shannon Drage Heyborne, Riley Drage, Evan Drage; Tyson Goodman, Chase Goodman, Raquel Goodman; Andrew Ruble, Sarah Ruble, Tamera Ruble Gibson and Tonya Ruble Kinder. JaJuan is also survived by six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special acknowledgement to Pamela March, who was more like a daughter to Ray and JaJuan than a niece. Throughout her life she touched many lives.
JaJuan was preceded in death by her husband Raymond D. Drage, her daughter Kristin Goodman, her son David Craig Drage, her parents, her mother and father-in-law; her sister Jesse Lou Robbins, and her brothers-in-law; Blaine Robbins, Byron Beeman and Donald Drage.
JaJuan for a time worked for the Liquor Division of the State of Utah. She then worked for the Fifth Circuit Court from which she retired.
JaJuan and Raymond were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. JaJuan held many positions in the church including Visiting Teacher Supervisor and Kindergarten Teacher. JaJuan and Ray were also active members of the 49s Club and participated in a vast number of activities. She held positions of Club Historian and Membership Chairperson.
Even before retirement, JaJuan took up photography and watercolor painting. Through her watercolors she found her true passion. She was a member of the Utah Watercolor Society and received awards from the Springdale Art Exhibition for her work.
A graveside gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, 2:00 PM, April 2, 2021 with interment immediately following at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah
