A beautiful, much beloved matriarch passed away peacefully February 22, 2025, surrounded by her family 10 days after her 102nd birthday. Born February 12, 1923, in Holden, Utah, the 7th of 10 children born to Benjamin Edwin and Laurel Veda Anderson. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jackie was the most amazing, extraordinary person and loved her family unconditionally. She was the best mom, grandma and friend, making all our lives better with her example, generosity and her love. She made everyone feel like they were the most special person to her. She lived her life to the fullest extent possible until the very end. On her 102nd birthday celebration held February 8th she was the center of attention as she chatted, hugged and loved everyone. How wonderful for her, but even more wonderful for her family.
Jackie married Virgil “Jack” Doty January 27, 1941. She received her endowments and was sealed to Jack in the Salt Lake City Temple April 22, 1998. They were married 55 years until his passing in 1996. At the beginning of their marriage Jack was in the Army Air Corps and then the Air Force and they lived on many Air Force Bases while Jack served his country. When the war ended, they moved to Utah and lived in Rose Park, Utah, where they started their family. Michael, Louise and Nancy were born there. In 1955 they moved to Butlerville (now Cottonwood Heights) where the twins Steven and Susan were born. She lived in the same house for over 64 years until 2019 when she moved in with Louise and Les. Our home on Dell Road was the most wonderful place to raise a family and was the gathering spot for all the family for many years.
Jackie worked at Job Service for about 30 years. During that time she would be temporarily laid off but always found ways to keep busy. Worked at the Albertsons Snack Bar at The Cottonwood Mall, did house cleaning and baked goodies for some.
Jackie loved everyone and had many, many lifelong friendships. She loved playing cards and played bridge for over seven decades and belonged to several ladies bridge clubs. Until one year ago she looked forward to playing bridge every Friday at the Heritage Senior Center. She belonged to bowling and golf leagues until her early 90’s. She hand quilted blankets of all sizes for her family and friends and they were prized possessions. She was known for her bottled dill pickles and pickled beets, homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, pies, Texas fudge cake, and halibut fish and chips.
Jack and Jackie had a very special group of friends consisting of six couples they called the HoHo Club. They had frequent parties, went dancing, played cards and just had fun together for many, many years.
Survived by her children Michael (Ila) Doty, Louise (Les) Hague, Nancy (Steven) Hendrickson, and Susan Parker; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren spanning six generations!
