Jackie “Jack” Everett Simmons

March 8, 1945 — July 28, 2018

Jack passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Murray, Utah at the age of 73. He was born on March 8, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to loving parents Malcolm and Bernice Simmons who preceded him in death.
Jack is survived by his sister Beverly Halliday, two children Elissa Davis, Chad Simmons, and five grandchildren. He truly enjoyed life and the experiences it brought to him.
He graduated from South High School class of 63 and immediately enlisted in the Army National Guard proudly and honorably serving his country during the Vietnam Era. It was his first experience away from home. Upon his return, he got a job at Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft airfreight loader and materials inspector. It was his way to continue to contribute to our national defense. He then found his niche in the Motion Picture Industry where he started out at the bottom rung of the proverbial ladder at Universal Motion Pictures, then to Paramount Motion Pictures and Tri-Star Motion Pictures. After a lot of hard work and effort, he was able to work his way up to Vice President Division Manager at Sony Pictures Entertainment. This position had him moving around the country to various cities such as: Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Jack loved meeting new people and seeing new places. He had great fun and a dream job to boot. After 35 years, it was finally time to retire his dream and return to Salt Lake City where he was raised with many fond memories. One of his passions to the very end was he loved to stay up late at night and watch old movies. It’s now time that his personal movie has also ended.
He will be known as Dad, Brother, Grandpa, and Uncle Jack, and will be missed dearly.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held around the end of September 2018.
