Jack Torleif Baumgarten was born on May 27, 2010 in Sandy, UT to Martha (Beddoes) and Joseph Baumgarten. He passed away February 14, 2017 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
Jack was born hungry and never stopped eating. He loved to eat anything with ketchup, and would even eat Asparagus if it had ketchup on it. Jack was a beautiful and happy baby; sometimes, he would even giggle himself to sleep for naptimes. Jack’s two sisters, Maggie (11) and Janie (8) were so excited to get a brother that every time mom would set baby Jack down on the ground, they would jump over to him and play with him. Jack’s first word was Janie; he loved and admired both his sisters. As a toddler, Jack loved to swim and dance. He discovered Legos at the age of three and has been obsessed ever since. He got to travel to Legoland this past summer, and he said it was way better than Disneyland.
Jack loved school ever since preschool. He loved to learn and read. His favorite books were the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and Magic Treehouse books. Jack has lots of good friends at school in his first grade class. Jack played with friends almost everyday because he was such a friendly little guy. He was learning Spanish this year, just like his sisters, and he learned all the important Spanish words (like poop) first. Jack loved his karate classes–especially using the weapons like nunchucks. He recently earned his orange belt, and he couldn’t wait to earn a black belt and learn how to use the more dangerous weapons.
Jack was kind and loving to everyone–especially his mommy. He was also a goofy little weirdo. He loved to dance and make up funny words to songs. Jack loved to wrestle with his sisters and dad and cuddle with his mommy. He had several pretend weapons, and he loved to get a bunch of neighborhood kids around to have epic lightsaber battles. Jack and his sisters loved to make up fun games and play legos together.
He was the joy of our lives, and we will miss him every day.
